Kai-Torsten Illing

Prof. Dr. Mag. Kai-Torsten Illing is a distinguished academic and professional with an extensive background in health management and tourism. Born on June 18, 1959, in Germany, Prof. Dr. Mag. Illing is married and has one child. His academic journey began with a Master’s degree in History, Ancient Studies, and Ethnology from the Freie Universität Berlin, where he studied from 1980 to 1986. He further advanced his education by earning a doctorate (Dr. phil.) from the same university in 1990, followed by an MBA from the BBW Academy for Business Administration between 1993 and 1996.

Currently, Prof. Dr. Mag. Illing holds multiple prestigious positions. He has been an Associate Professor at FH Joanneum Bad Gleichenberg in Austria since 2006, where he specializes in health management in tourism. Additionally, he has been a freelance professor at Apollon University of Health Economics since 2012 and currently serves as a Professor and Program Director for Health Tourism, a program set to transition to Tourism Management in Health and Wellness from 2024. Since 2024, he has also been the Managing Director of TDC Consulting GmbH.

Prof. Dr. Mag. Illing's professional journey is marked by significant roles. He served as an Honorary Lecturer at HNEE University for Sustainable Development in Eberswalde, where he tought health tourism. From 2000 to 2001, he was a Lecturer in Tourism Marketing and Law at the University of Applied Sciences Schmalkalden. Since 1997, he has been the Managing Director of Prof. Dr. Kai Illing TDC, a consulting firm. He also served as the Marketing Manager at Drotax GmbH, managing marketing and market research in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, and as Operations Manager at Sebnitz Tourism Enterprises. His early career includes roles such as Post-Doc Research Fellow at Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, conducting tourism and cultural research in Indonesia.

Prof. Dr. Mag. Illing has continually pursued professional development through various certifications and training programs. These include strategic tourism marketing, legal issues in tourism, and cultural education from institutions such as IHK Erfurt, the German Seminar for Tourism, and the Federal Academy for Cultural Education. His commitment to continuous learning is further demonstrated by his participation in numerous seminars and intensive training sessions in tourism and cultural management.

He has been awarded significant scholarships, including a Post-Doc Fellowship from Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft from 1991 to 1993, focusing on biographical theory and colonial transitions in Indonesia, and a PhD Grant from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for research in Indonesia from 1987 to 1988.

Prof. Dr. Mag. Illing is an active member of the German Medical Wellness Association and the German Longevity association, having joined these organizations in 2005, and 2024, respectively. His teaching experience spans several universities, including the University of Veszprèm in Hungary, the University of Applied Sciences Graz/Bad Gleichenberg in Austria, the University of Applied Sciences Bremen, the University of Applied Sciences Schmalkalden in Germany, and the International Business School Bad Homburg in Germany. He has taught various subjects related to health tourism, marketing management, and leisure law, often leading departments and shaping the curriculum in these fields.

Auron Noah Illing, born in 2003 in Feldbach, Austria, is currently advancing his education in business and finance at Webster University in Vienna. In addition to his professional experience in asset management, he has completed numerous certifications from prestigious institutions such as the London School of Economics and Political Science and the Corporate Finance Institute. These certifications encompass a wide range of fields, including corporate finance, wealth management, and real estate. Currently, at TDC Consulting, he primarily focuses on project-related corporate finance.
